FAQ

How does cooperative housing differ from conventional home ownership or rental?

Co-ops are communities of people working together to provide a safe, clean living environment for its members and their families. Like all established co-operatives Rossland Ridge Co-operative Homes participates in a system called “Democratic Functioning”. This ensures that each member can have their say.

What are the responsibilities of a member of our coop?

Co-operative living may not be for everyone. All members are required to participate a minimum of four hours per month of their time. This helps to ensure that we continue to keep costs down. Keeping costs down, in turn, helps keep our housing charge increase at a minimum.
